Ruby and the Off-Road Rally

We’re thrilled to announce that we just approved the first mass print run for Ruby and the Off-Road Rally!

We received a video of our second proof copy from the printer, and wow! We LOVE how it turned out! (See below for the link to the video.)

If you look closely, you’ll see the special UV spot gloss on the cover, making Ruby’s name, eyes, and headlights shine like the rally star she is.

This is actually our second proof copy because we noticed that the cover paper stock was thinner than we wanted.

This is a THICK book (42 pages), and we felt that Ruby deserves a cover that’s just as strong and durable as she is!  We upgraded to a sturdier paper stock, and you'll be able to feel the difference in the quality.

Now that we’ve officially given the green light, the production team is off to the races with the full print run! 

The entire process can take up to 9 weeks, so we still have a ways to go, but each step forward is a step in the right direction. 

I’ve also asked the printer to send a behind-the-scenes video of Ruby in action on the production line—and you better believe I’ll be sharing it with you the moment it lands in my inbox.

Hello, fellow racers!

Here's a hot update on the current status of Ruby and the Off-Road Rally! The illustrations are with the printer! Woo hoo! 🎉

We still need to get a proof copy before green-lighting thousands of books to be printed and shipped, but the process is moving forward, and that is all we can do.

Like the rest of the world, the tariff announcement will affect the supply chain operation, so there may be delays in fulfillment - all of that is out of our hands and entirely unpredictable - but we will keep you updated every step of the way!

Our favorite Audiobook Wizard is currently making Ruby fully accessible, so we will share the videobook/audiobook with the backers who supported that format as soon as we can.

We are finishing the manuscript for Book #2 while waiting on the final illustrations for Book #1 (what else can we do?), and we'd love your FEEDBACK! 

Right now we have Ruby and the Hurricane Rescue, but we thought we could do better.

The illustration phase of Ruby and the Off-Road Rally is nearly complete! We just received an email from Alvin saying he is putting the finishing touches on the front and end pages.

We are also looking for a fun font that captures the adventure of the rally while still being kid-friendly (not an easy task, believe it or not).

We hope the start of 2025 has been going well for you!

Ruby and Scout are still being illustrated by our talented illustrator, Alvin Adhi.

He is putting the final touches on the customized vehicles requested by 13 of our amazing backers!

We are looking forward to seeing the book in the fully illustrated phase, as this is almost always the most exciting part of a children's book!

Backers can preview one of Alvin's illustrations of Ruby and Scout relaxing under the twinkling night desert sky after training for the rally.

Julie just finished the educational materials so Ruby and the Off-Road Rally can be utilized in primary classrooms!
